2. There is a concert by the Singapore Symphony Orchestra.

On Friday 30 Aug 2019, we honour the moon, the stars, the earth and the universe. The Singapore Symphony Orchestra will perform live Ravel’s Daphnis & Chloe to mega-screen footage of the moon, Planet Earth, and the aurora borealis. This film-concert entitled “Moonrise and Aurora” marks the 50th anniversary of man’s landing of the moon, and will bring you the awe-inspiring wonder of the cosmos.
This film-with-live-orchestra concert bridges the concepts of the moon and astronomy with the aural sounds of classical music. It serves as an inter-disciplinary experience for Science and Aesthetics.
The details are as follows:
Date/Time: Friday, August 30, 2019, 7:30 PM (1h 50 min, with 20 min intermission)
Venue: Esplanade Concert Hall
Price: $10
Synopsis: Step into a marvellous conjunction of film and music to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo moon-landing. Astronomer, experimental photographer, science educator and visual artist José Salgado, well-known for combining science and symphony, is our guest presenter in his two films Moonrise and the Aurora Triptych. An awe-inspiring experience not to be missed.
